It would be great to hear or read about the things happening in your community. There must be many interesting stories that arise when neighbors have time to interact. What trials and tribulations have arisen as a result of having to stay home during this period? Send a letter to this paper. Of all the editors in Sonoma County, the editor of this paper is the most likely to print your observations.

The Board of Trustees learned that the old method of electing members to the Board was out of compliance with equal protection of the laws requirements adopted by the California Legislature. In the case of SVUSD where there are five Board members each district’s population must be as nearly as equal as possible to 20% of the total population. Michael Acker has created a magnificent on line museum detailing the history of the Springs. It’s free on line at www.springsmuseum.org. It doesn’t look like the Boyes Blvd. bridge over Sonoma Creek will be finished soon. It’s hard to believe that its been twenty (20) years since the City voters approved an urban growth boundary (UGB) that limits growth into the surrounding hinterlands. Springs residents do not get to vote on this measure, but they will be affected one way or another. The Sonoma Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) has hired consultants to recommend different plans for electing Board members. Currently Board members are elected at large by all voters. A Board majority feels this may result in underrepresentation of voters in the Springs who are more often Latino and theoretically vote less often.
