Mental and physical well being also top my gratitude list. Am glad too for my family and dear friends. So far I have escaped addiction, the enthrall of television, and monomania. A thousand other personal blessings remain unnamed. Introducing an Action Based Gratitude Practice.

Sonoma County Tenants Union Rises I met people from Sonoma County Tenants Union (SCTU) at the Cotati Accordion Fest. Reading their five pages on social justice and the positive impact made by rent control, I wanted to run with this hot topic. Nineteen cities in CA have some form of rent control or just cause for eviction protections.

Our local shining star is typically overlooked in most guidebooks. Virtually everyone’s opinions for restaurant destinations in our upscale wine county world calls for driving on by to get to the perfect and fancy haunts. I think you will be surprised when you really see what is in … Cotati!  Let’s take an honest look: There are a whopping 17 independent, local proprietor-owned restaurants in the little town!

The 29th Annual Cotati Accordion Festival - A non-profit organization established in 1991 to promote the love of the accordion and to support local youth service organizations. The Fest volunteers, attendees, musicians, and sponsors have contributed nearly $500,000 to the youth of our community. Advanced tickets can be purchased at all four Oliver’s locations.

Of course, some people have great luck with farming, but I don’t believe anyone will tell you it’s an easy life. Every child in my mother’s family did farm chores. The youngest at age three fed the chickens and hunted for eggs. The oldest helped their father feed the cows and do the daily milking. My mother recalls a year they planted eight sacks of potatoes and only grew eight sacks of potatoes! That was a hunger year. My grandmother Alice Baker worked as a sharecropper at the age of 12 with her four siblings. When her children were small on the Homestead, she taught them not to greedily fill their stomachs. She led them in saying grace and leaving food so that the whole family would get enough to eat. In other words, eat to live not live to eat. So, I congratulate Cotati for their vision and follow-through on Veronda-Falletti Ranch.
