City Staff to Host Zoom Meeting to Answer Resident Questions Regarding Safe Social Distance Site Planned for Finley Parking Lot
A virtual community meeting addressing the implementation of the Safe Social Distancing Program for unsheltered individuals in the parking lot of Finley Community Center will be hosted on Thursday, May 14 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. At this meeting, City staff will provide an overview of the program and provide an opportunity for participating community members to ask questions. Set-up of the site in the parking lot adjacent to the Finley Community Center is underway and occupancy of the parking lot site will begin next week. This temporary, managed, parking lot site will help individuals experiencing homelessness achieve safe social distancing amid COVID-19, as directed by State and County health officials’ guidance. Mayor Tom Schwedhelm along with City staff representing Police, Fire, Transportation & Public Works, and Housing & Community Services, as well as a Catholic Charities (the contracted service provider) will all be available during the meeting to provide program information and answer questions about the management of the site.

Some City Park Amenities to Reopen Following County Health Officer’s Amended Parks Closure Order
Santa Rosa has some delightful news to share! Yesterday, the Sonoma County Health Officer issued an Amended Parks Closure Order that eases restrictions on parks usage effective Wednesday, May 13. This update means that the City will start planning for the re-opening of certain park amenities and some parking lots. High-touch amenities such as playgrounds and picnic tables will remain closed.
The City team is currently reviewing the amended Order and will be re-opening allowed Santa Rosa City park amenities and some parking lots within the next 24 - 48 hours. Sonoma County Economic Development Board Announces SoCo Launch for Businesses Preparing to Re-Open During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Sonoma County Economic Development Board has partnered with local business sectors and the Sonoma County Department of Health Services to develop SoCo Launch, an online portal featuring all of the resources needed to safely and successfully re-open businesses in Sonoma County, in accordance with the latest Shelter in Placed Health Order. IRONMAN Event Scheduled for July 25 Postponed
The IRONMAN Santa Rosa event scheduled for July 25, 2020 has been postponed due to the ongoing public health emergency. Event organizers continue to monitor the direction and recommendations of the State of California and the Sonoma County Health Officer while working diligently with the City of Santa Rosa and other event partners to secure a new date for IRONMAN Santa Rosa in the future, yet to be determined. El personal de la ciudad organizará una reunión por vía de Zoom para responder preguntas de los residentes sobre el sitio de distancia social segura planeado para el estacionamiento de Finley
El jueves 14 de mayo, de 6:00 a 7:30 p.m., se organizará una reunión virtual de la comunidad para tratar la implementación del Programa de Distanciamiento Social Seguro para personas sin refugio en el estacionamiento del Centro Comunitario Finley. En esta reunión, el personal de la Ciudad proporcionará una visión general del programa y brindará una oportunidad para que los miembros de la comunidad participando hagan preguntas. La instalación del sitio en el estacionamiento adyacente al Centro Comunitario Finley está en marcha y la ocupación del sitio del estacionamiento comenzará la próxima semana. Este sitio de estacionamiento temporal y administrado ayudará a las personas sin hogar a lograr un distanciamiento social seguro en medio de la situación COVID-19, según lo indicado por la guía de los funcionarios de salud estatales y del condado. El Alcalde Tom Schwedhelm junto al personal de la Ciudad que representa la Policía, Bomberos, Transporte y Obras Públicas, y Servicios de Vivienda y Comunidad, así como también representantes de Caridades Católicas (el proveedor de servicios contratado) estarán disponibles durante la reunión para proporcionar información del programa y responder preguntas sobre La gestión del sitio.
