PG&E’s scheduled power shutoff began today in much of Sonoma County, affecting approximately 200,000 residents. PG&E currently predicts that the power shutoff may continue through Thursday, October 10, at noon.

PG&E anticipates it could take up to five days to completely restore power to all customers in Northern California once restoration of power begins, as some damage is expected to their system which could cause restoration delays.
The National Weather Service’s Red Flag Warning for the North Bay Mountains and North Bay Interior Valleys, which includes all of Santa Rosa and most of Sonoma County, will remain in effect through 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 10. This evening low humidity levels and the possibility of strong offshore wind speeds means residents should continue to take emergency safety precautions at home to be prepared for critical fire weather and be ready to evacuate in the event of an emergency if they feel in danger.
The County of Sonoma and the cities of Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Cotati and Cloverdale have activated their Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) and will continue operations to respond to the extended power outage and update the public as the situation changes.
