Shout out for North Coast community support
I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and look to the future as I count my blessings big and small. Itās a New Year! We have all been impacted. No need to discuss it or go into details although I want to acknowledge each of you. Now we are looking for a new beginning, a since of hope, and faith that this will be over in our near future. Look at how we adapted and made the most of what was handed to us in our lives. For many it means that we have more alone time. You are not alone out there. So many of our wonderful organizations are here for you in many ways! I want to highlight many of them ā but first I need to correct my last article which has a mistake. Yup! I made a mistake in noting the Bufano Statue and Running Fence was the same artist. They are not and when I was reminded of this I realized that I know this. Christo is the artist of the Running Fence. Thank you to Simone Wilson for contacting me. Simone is the author of many local titles which I am privileged to have some signed copies. She is a wealth of information about our local areas. Here is a link to a great book about Sonoma County https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10183352-sonoma although she is author as well of many other local titles: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/595317.Simone_Wilson.

Next shout out is to The Jenner Community Center has a wonderful and meaningful history of coastal conservation dating back to the 1960s, when the entire Russian River mouth area was threatened with massive dredging and full scale development of the hillsides surrounding the basin. The beautiful landscapes that surround Jenner now are the result of great labors which continue to this day. Living in this place of great beauty and diversity also means we have a great responsibility to our wild neighbors and human neighbors. Two of those neighbors are our wonderful Harbor Seal Colony, also our once abundant but now highly endangered Coho Salmon, and Steelhead trout. The club was and is deeply involved with the restoration of the woodlands and watersheds which surround Jenner. They support our local community with partnering with the Sonoma County Food bank. Please check them out https://jennercommunitycenter.org. Currently they are hosting an online fund raiser which has great āstuffā to purchase for gifts and personal use. It is easy to support them. https://www.boonsupply.com/collections/612106-holiday-gift-bazaar
