Sea Ranch Lodge: A fresh take on a local landmark

The Sea Ranch Lodge, a beloved local landmark on Sonoma County's dramatic coastline, has just wrapped up a major renovation. This isn't just a fresh coat of paint - it's a thoughtful, extensive update that's been years in the making. And it's all ready for you to come and see, right in the heart of our summer season.

You probably know the lodge, with its 1960s roots, as a fixture of our coastal landscape. It's a place that's always felt in tune with the fog, the calls of the gulls, and the scent of sweetgrass in the air. Now, it's been given a new lease on life by the talented folks at NICOLEHOLLIS, a design collective based in San Francisco. They've poured their creativity and respect for the lodge's history into every part of this project.

The North Building, one of the oldest structures in The Sea Ranch and built back in 1968, has been particularly transformed. It now houses 17 guest rooms, each one a quiet invitation to connect with the natural beauty of our surroundings. The design encourages us to live in harmony with the land, a value that's been at the heart of the lodge since the beginning.

Kristina Jetton, the General Manager of The Sea Ranch Lodge, puts it this way: "This isn't just about bringing the lodge up to date. It's about honoring the vision of the original architects, adding our own touches, and creating a space that fits seamlessly into the natural elements that make The Sea Ranch Lodge so special."

The guest rooms now offer a front-row seat to the stunning views we all love. Imagine watching the sun rise over the Pacific, a cup of locally roasted coffee in hand, the warmth of a fireplace nearby. Or spotting wildlife from a cushioned window bench, wrapped up in a cozy blanket. And for those who crave a bit more space, the Deluxe Lodge Studio rooms on the second floor offer a peaceful retreat.

The lodge also has something special for those planning events. The Gualala Room, with its private patio, is perfect for intimate gatherings - think bridal parties or small family receptions.

And if you're looking for a longer stay, the lodge's Sea Ranch Living program offers private rental homes designed by some truly impressive architects. It's a chance to experience Sea Ranch living in a unique way, with all the comforts of home.

The Sea Ranch Lodge isn't just a place to stay. It's a piece of our local history, a gateway to the natural wonders of the Sonoma region, and a testament to the principle of living lightly on the land. With this renovation, the lodge is ready to welcome a new generation of locals and visitors alike, offering a unique and genuine experience that's truly Sonoma.
