Rio Nido returning to school

Back to school:

It is that time of year again when we say good bye to Summer and hello to the school season. School starts in the middle of August (hopefully in person, and not on Zoom). The first day of the school season is around Aug. 15. It seems rather cruel to me that summer gets cut short every year due to holidays, teacher conferences, ski week, etc, etc. The list grows every year. Back in the olden days, we had three full months of summer. Summer break would begin around June 4th or 5th and then back to school around the 5th of September. Times sure have changed. Let's hope that schools can reopen safely with the Covid plague.

COVID is still hanging around:

Things appeared to get better for a while with the easing of the mask mandate and numbers of people getting vaccinated. Please just go and get vaccinated. I know two handfuls of people who believe in dangerous conspiracy theories and refuse to get vaccinated to later find out they have contracted COVID-19. This is highly contagious. The Delta variant is dangerous and the symptoms are worse. We as a Society need to get everyone vaccinated otherwise we will be in lockdown forever. The government is not trying to control us. They are trying to help us. This is now the pandemic for the unvaccinated.

Rio Nido Pet of the Month:

This is Jesse James. Jesse originally hails from the East Bay where his daddy adopted him at the age of one years old. Jesse has been the RN Pet of the month before. He grew up in Rio Nido and is now 13 years young. Jesse is the best boy ever. He is a gentle giant who loves life and especially his daddy. He is a bit of a chow hound when it comes to food and is obsessed with his doggy treats. He enjoys frolicking and rough housing with his younger brother Stavros Baron the Black Shepard and plays with his three little sisters - Lollipop, Minka and Roxy. Jesse is very social and has to be the center of attention when we have dinner parties and guests over. He is especially fond of his neighbor Auntie Jody who gives him back rubs all the time. If you see Jesse around the hood, say hello. He is friendly and loves all the attention.
