Healdsburg District Hospital Acquires a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Machine
Healdsburg District Hospital (HDH) has acquired a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. TheSIGNAtmMRI purchase was made possible by a grant from theKalmanovitz Charitable Foundation that was coordinated by theHealthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County. The MRI unit arrived in a portable building unit which will be permanently located on the hospital campus and allow for expanded services for hospital physicians as well as local physicians in need of services.
The MRI is a diagnostic tool for physicians and provides a detailed and layered look into the soft tissues of the body. It has enabled physicians to observe a variety of ailments, including brain tumors, intestinal blockages, and ligament damage and more. It can provide a speedy diagnosis for critical treatment to begin. The hospital previously leased a mobile MRI with limited availability.
According to HDH Imaging Department Manager Bridget Graydon, " Initially, our staffing will allow us to continue to provide MRI services two days per week. As the need grows so will our staffing options, and eventually, the MRI can see much-increased use. Having it on site will make it more appealing to physicians both inside and outside of the hospital."
Healdsburg District Hospital serves the North Sonoma County Healthcare District, which includes Windsor, Healdsburg, Geyserville, Cloverdale, and the Alexander Valley. The hospital offers both primary and specialty care physicians.
