For those of you who like to see movies in the theater, you will be happy to know there are seven amazing movies opening this month in theaters. Starting with

Also opening August 2nd is “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw”. Two years after the events of “Fast & Furious 8”, bitter rivals Hobbs and Shaw are forced to team up.

Opening August 9th is the heartwarming “The Peanut Butter Falcon”starring Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson and Bruce Dern. This is an adventure story set in the world of a modern Mark Twain that begins when Zak, a young man with Down syndrome runs away from a nursing home where he lives to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler.

Also opening August 9th is “The Art of Racing in the Rain” starring Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Seyfried. Dog lovers believe their canine family members understand language, comprehend events, have opinions and exude loyalty.

Opening August 16th is “Where'd You Go, Bernadette?” starring Cate Blanchett. She plays Bernadette Fox, a loving mom who becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passion after years of sacrificing herself for her family. Also stars Kristen Wiig and Billy Crudup.

Opening August 23rd is “Angel Has Fallen” starring Gerard Butler. He plays Secret Service Agent Mike Banning. He's framed for the attempted assassination of the President and must evade his own agency and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat.

Opening August 30th is “Don't Let Go”. After a man's family dies in what appears to be a murder, he gets a phone call from one of the dead, his niece. He's not sure if she's a ghost or if he's going mad, but as it turns out, he's not. Starring David Oyelowo.

The Airport Stadium 12 in Santa Rosa is offering two movies for kids at only $3.00. August 1st and 2nd is “The House With a Clock in its Walls” and August 8th and 9th is “Teen Titans: Go to the Movies”. 10am is the start time. Call 707 484 7328 for more information.

For my live theater fans I have a special treat for you. “Help is on the Way XXV” is August 18th. This is an amazing charity event starring Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless, the stars of “Cagney and Lacey”. Also my favorite American Idol, Kimberley Locke will be back. Last year she knocked it out of the park. I can't wait to see what she sings this year. Carole Cook will receive the lifetime achievement award. Cast members from “Hamilton” also will be performing. It will be held again at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco. Go to www.reaf.org for more information.

The 6th Street Playhouse is opening “The Book Club Play” on August 23rd and closes September 15th.
