Feeling Graton by Jennifer Butler — May 2020

Habitat for Humanity homeowner/builders completed two of the new affordable homes in Graton. The two-home build project is part of Green Valley Village, a 10-home build project and in partnership with Orin Thiessen of Thiessen homes.

Each family selected for these affordable homes surpassed their 500 hours required sweat equity, are respected citizens in their community, and look forward to providing a safe and secure place for their children to call home.

One family, dad owns a landscaping business and mom is a waitress. The other family, dad is a flooring expert and mom is a stay-at-home family organizer. The peace of mind they wished for their families - achieved!

If you LIVE in Graton, even with their face-shields on you KNOW who THIS couple is. That MOM,she grew up in Graton! WELCOME HOME!

Last November Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County paused its operations in order to reorganize financially and rebuild a future business model moving forward to better serve Sonoma County. Five months later it gives us great pleasure to have completed these two affordable homes for our partner families. This would not have been possible without community support. Due to the current pandemic, unfortunately we were not able to celebrate this joyous occasion with a key dedication. That will just have to come later! Stay in touch as the rest of the homes are finished and occupied!

THANK YOU whoever the Trash Angel is who picked up the trash in the new trash receptacle downtown. This is a VOLUNTEER effort to keep downtown Graton CLEAN...so every angel is appreciated!
