It’s summer! Which means, thanks to its brilliant producer, the

Friday Night Live, FNL as it’s affectionately known, brings fun for the whole family to the city’s inviting Downtown Plaza area, including: a myriad of musical genres by popular bands; a range of tasty foods; unique vendors; a Kids Zone, and the FNL tradition of joyfully spontaneous dancing by its diverse, intergenerational audiences!

FNL’s food and arts/crafts vendors plus many popular restaurants and shops open at 6 p.m. while the music starts at 6:30 p.m. Come early to relax, people watch, or stroll up the Boulevard enjoying family friendly activities.

Excitement’s been building all spring for announcement of this year’s line-up. The ENTIRE Schedule in on the Gazette’s website SUMMER CONCERTS.

June 1st—John “Papa” Gros opens the season “mixing the sounds of rock & roll, funk and rootsy Americana into a genre-bending gumbo that carries on the tradition of New Orleans.”

June 8th—Blue Water Highway joins us with their Indie Americana band consisting of a “signature three-part harmony, excellent musicianship, and great songs”.

June 15th—Tommy Castro & The Painkillers once again to delight us with their Blues Rock featuring “guitar playing honed to a razor’s edge, intensely passionate vocals and memorable songs”.

June 22nd—Afrolicious thrills us with their “8-piece band that emphasizes the organic elements, instrumentation and energy of a live ensemble combined with club heavy beats” of Afro-Tropi-Disco-Funk.

June 29th—David Luning Band features “gritty, joyful, soulful Americana” and his “earnest songwriting, lively storytelling, and rich, captivating voice”.

June 2nd—The 2018-19 Cloverdale Sculpture Trail Artist’s Reception marks the 15th year of wonderful, delightful, and, often, huge sculptures between here and Geyserville. Wander down Cloverdale Boulevard! New art pieces! Cloverdale’s part of The Trail starts with the “Big Red Candy Apple” in front of the Cloverdale Library and extends down the boulevard to the Citrus Fair Grounds. The reception is being held at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center, 209 North Cloverdale Boulevard, 5-7:30pm. www.cloverdalesculpturetrail.org

June 8th—­Cloverdale High School Graduation! Congratulations to all of you, including Jaslyn Ortiz, who won the 2018Congressional Art Competition. Her painting, “I Love You California”, will reside in the U.S. Capitol Building for the next year.

June 9th­—The Drive-In Summer Series brought to us by the Alexander Valley Film Society kicks-off with a showing of E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial. Back to the Future and Wizard of Oz follow later in the summer. $40 per car/ $100 for series; $12 per individual/$30 for series. Check www.avfilmsociety.org for dates.

June 17th—The 53rd annual Father’s Day Breakfast prepared by the Lions’ Club. Cloverdale City Park on West Second Street; 7:30-11:30am; $8 adults/ $4 under 12. www.cloverdalelionsclub.com
