By Kathleen McCallum

Montgomery Village invites Sonoma County to their first SOCO ART FEST at the Village happening Saturday and Sunday May 4- 5, 11am-4pm.

This 2-day festival features a Juried Art Show and Sale with award winning artisans and fantastic songs from well-known musicians. The Village will be transformed into an artist mecca as guests stroll the courtyard filled with artwork while listening to the amazing music of Allyson Paige, Annie Sampson, Loralee Christensen and Lisa Kindred on May 4th and GRAMMY Award-Winning Percussionist Javier Cabanillas and his San Francisco based Pacific Mambo Orchestra, CABANIJAZZ PROJECT on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, that celebrates our vibrant Latino community and culture.

The Academy of Art University’s Professor Lewis Bangham will be the Juror of this year’s juried art show. James Spitzer is the recipient of this year Lifetime Achievement Award in Art and some of his artworks will be on display at the festival.

Guests will get a grin from having their own likeness created into a caricature, drawn by artist Marc Schmid on May 4th. Ken Garr will add some sparkle to Cinco de Mayo with his magic and slight of hand and Jasdance Academy will be performing some beautiful Latin Dances in honor of the Latino celebration.

This festival is a benefit for Becoming Independent with all beverage proceeds going directly to them. Becoming Independent will be selling some of their fantastic art chairs and other creations to support their art department and artists.
