7th Annual CARe SHOW for kids

By David Adams

This year was our 7th Annual CARe SHOW for kids. The Petaluma Salvation Army fundraiser to send kids off to school with the supplies they need to succeed. We had great crowds. Lots of fun and over seventy five of the counties finest hot rods, dragsters, stock collectables....well you name it and the owners shared it with us. The Petaluma Elks came out and did the BBQing. The band “The Hots” provided a concert. It was a hoot of a day. So put us on your calendar for next July when we roll back into Casa Grande High School and join the fun.

The CARe SHOW for kids raised $3000 to go towards funding back to school supplies for kids in our community to have what they need to succeed in school. The show was held at Casa Grande High School and had over 75 cars participate, a concert by the band called “The Hots” sponsored by Quality Printing Services. Chicken BBQ was handled by the Petaluma Elks Grill team. The Chicken was donated by Petaluma Poultry. A raffle was held, prizes provided by Friedman’s Home improvement Center. The Casa Grande United Anglers project gave tours of their national acclaimed fish hatchery. It truly was a community event to benefit the kids of our community.

Two weeks before the start of the new School year the Petaluma Salvation Army has a “Back to School event that kids and parents can come to at 721 S. McDowell Blvd. All the supplies are set out in our Youth center and kids can pick out a back pack and then shop in the multi use room for what they need for their upcoming School year. If you would like to donate towards the event you can make checks out to the Petaluma Salvation Army, and mail them to 721 S. McDowell Blvd. Put Back to school supplies in the memo on the check. You can also bring supply donations to the corps as well. To register kids for supplies call, 707-769-0716. The office is open 8 to 12 Monday through Friday.
