While the coronavirus public health emergency is taking a lot of focus, we are making progress on a number of planned projects around the District. I'm happy to report that the No Parking Ordinance for the neighborhoods around the Forestville beaches is moving forward and is on the agenda for the the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday the 21st.
Next week's Board of Supervisor's agenda will include a vote on the TIF grant applications from District 5. We received a competitive number of excellent projects and will be funding as many as we can that will help immediate needs during the public health emergency across the district and county.
We are also working with the Community Preparedness Program Manager to develop a preparedness meeting with fire districts and neighborhood fire/disaster prep groups to keep moving on fire resiliency activities that are possible during the SIP period.
TPW is making progress on flood damage repairs, completing this week on King Ridge Road in Cazadero the upper four slide repairs with the installation of permanent guardrails at each new retaining wall. The next planned activity is the relocation of overhead power lines at the southern most slide.
This is just a brief look at some of the essential projects that are still moving forward during the Shelter-In-Place. We will get through this together!
TOT and Cannabis Taxes
The Sonoma County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office (ACTTC) is aware of the impacts from the COVID-19 emergency and shares the community's concerns. We have a long history of working with operators in times of emergency and disaster, including the recent wildfires and floods. The regular tax deadline for TOT and Cannabis taxes are April 30th. After this date, the ACTTC will consider written requests for penalty waiver due to the COVID-19 emergency on a case-by-case basis.
Please note this is not a due date extension for all operators. Instead, this is a penalty waiver program for operators that are directly impacted by COVID-19 and need additional time to pay applicable taxes and/or assessments. Approved applicants must pay outstanding taxes and/or assessments by June 30, 2020 to qualify for waiver of penalty and interest.
The COVID-19 penalty waiver form and information is available on the ACTTC website : http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/ACTTC/Revenue-Accounting/COVID-19-Forms/.
Shelter-In-Place - Essential Travel Only
New County Signs
Much as we usually love our visitors, it is important that everyone respect the Shelter-In-Place order and stay in your own County. Travel is for essential purposes only. These signs are going up this week to notify visitors that they should be turning around and returning home to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
