Rio Nido Magic by Elena Chronis - May 2017

May has finally arrived. After a cold but I’d say mild winter everyone is ready for a bit of warmth and sunshine. This past winter was definitely a chilly one with some steady and strong rain showers. I love the rain and honestly would not mind some more Spring showers. Summer in Rio Nido is the season many of us here wait for. Although Spring is wonderful, and Summer is fun filled, I have to say Harvest time (fall season) is my favorite time of year.

Below are some scheduled Rio Nido Homeowner’s Summertime FUN Events:

May, 27th: Chicken BBQ

July 7th: Independence Day Hamburger and Hotdog BBQ

August 4th: Golf Tourney at Northwood Golf Course

August 5th: Pancake Breakfast/Art Show

September 2nd: Labor Day Chicken BBQ

Pee Wee Golf will be opening up in conjunction with the May 27th BBQ

A big thanks to Doug Misner and Beverly Bird Misner and a big shout out toJohn Calonico.

Friends of Rio Nido (FRN) at it again! FRN has outdone themselves again. A few weeks ago they canvassed all of Rio Nido with important and helpful, stylish, modern and informative information packettes with magnets for your frig containing pertinent information regarding contact info in the area, etc. They left the info packettes on front doors and handed them out to neighbors. Word was that FRN members were delighted to meet all the new Rio Nidans who have recently moved here by purchasing homes and/or renting them. These new arrivals take pride in their new homeownership and the neighborhood. Such great and positive change for this magical enclave.

We welcome all the new neighbors with open arms! Moving forward and on another note, it has been three years since the beautiful red Rio Nido sign has been hung to the entrance to Rio Nido. Boy does time sure fly by. Rio Nido Rocks!

Rio Nido Lodge: It’s been a rather busy winter and spring at the Lodge. Summer is looking mighty busy, so get those reservations in Stat. The next Russian River Chamber mixer is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6th at the Lodge.

We look forward to hosting all the Chamber Business owners in our Community for a fun and informative time. See you then!

Rio Nido Garden Elves: Spending a lazy and languishing afternoon enjoying the sunshine on my deck sipping a champs cocktail, I couldn’t help notice all of the Rio Nido Garden Elves weaving their magic in our beautiful community garden.

I enjoyed watching all of our neighborhood garden elves getting our neighborhood garden ready for Spring and Summer. It truly is a gorgeous Community garden lovingly maintained by the nicest neighbors. A big thanks goes out to all of you for bringing such beauty into our little village.

Russian River Rec. & Park: A huge thanks goes out to Russian River Rec and Park for all their hard work over the course of the last few months. Looking forward to the Spring cleanup.

The smell of freshly mown lawn/grass is wonderful.

Rio Nido Pet of the Month: Louie is a three year old male kitty. He was abandoned by his previous owners (TSK, TSK) who moved away from Rio Nido. He showed up unexpectedly at the Lodge one morning and decided to stay and make it his forever home. Louie has been welcomed with open arms by all the staff. He has been micro chipped and given a clean bill of health by the town veterinarian. Louie loves to hang out with all the guests at the Lodge and likes to visit the rooms when given a chance. He is friendly, gregarious, loves attention and answers to his name. You can often find Louis lounging around the property and making fast friends with everyone.

Louie has brought us all a lot of happiness with his presence. Let’s all give Louie a big RN welcome!
