Forestville The Good Life by Richard Naegle - May 2017

Community Fund$... Established in 2007 by the Forestville Planning Association, the FCF (Forestville Community Fund) is grateful for annual contributions from the Bodean Companyand theCanyon Rock Quarry as well as from individual donors. It is ready to make $10,000 of cash grants for local projects that enhance downtown Forestville and/or provide community benefit in the Forestville area (the 95436 zip code).

Applications are reviewed by the FCF Advisory Committee, which represents a wide range of community interests such as schools, seniors, Chamber of Commerce, Youth Park, artists, and other interested citizens. **In evaluating grant applications, the Committee gives priority to projects that include one or more of the following: 1) impact the most people; 2) can “match” dollars from other sources; 3) involve collaboration with other groups or projects; and 4) have a volunteer component. It then recommends which projects to fund to the Board of the Forestville Planning Association which makes final decisions in early July.

Applications must be submitted by June 15-forms can be filled out online or downloaded at 95436.org; paper copies are available at Forestville Pharmacy, and The Service Station. See 95436.org (click the Community Fund tab) for application forms, guidelines, further information, and a list of past projects.

Our Country…

“Our people, our American people,

our many-colored threads

stretched tight in warp and weft

between that which knows

its own goodness

and that which does not—

Will claim the land again for our children

and the enemy’s children, too,

mending finally all the tears in the

cloth of who we once and still

so dream of being.”
