Worker’s Rights Board Hearing on Health Worker’s Work Conditions at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital - Sept 26, 2020
On Saturday, September 26th, at 12:30 pm, the Workers’ Rights Board (WRB) will convene a panel of community leaders to hear from workers about the working conditions at Santa Rosa’s Memorial Hospital, now owned and operated by Washington-based Providence.
The WRB has received a request for a hearing from the 700+ workers who are represented by the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) as serious concerns about their safety during the COVID-19 pandemic continue to grow and go unanswered by the hospital management.
The WRB (a project of North Bay Jobs with Justice) convenes public forums that allow workers to bring complaints about workplace conditions and violations of their rights before a panel of community leaders to help resolve situations that can threaten workers’ rights.
We have reviewed their preliminary testimony and background material and find that a hearing is warranted. It will be held this Saturday on Zoom, of course, due to the COVID-19 social distancing rules. Our panelists include: Former media Executive and Health policy consultant Nancy Dobbs, Reverend Lindsey Bell-Kerr, Dr. Jenny Fish, Windsor Vice Mayor Esther Lemus, and Santa Rosa Vice Mayor Victoria Fleming.
