While in these crazy times right now we all know this probably be our “new reality” for a while. Social distancing, face masks along with no hugs (the painful part for people like me) could continue for a while.  The important thing is that we are all safe, be good at civil servants and obey the guidelines we are given, and we will get through this.

One particular challenge, during this crisis, is that our High School students are missing out of all the pomp and circumstance that goes along with their senior year. Because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and social distancing there will be no prom, no senior cut day (what’s the fun if you can't hang out with friends) but most of all no graduation ceremony.   But we would ask for your support to help them in their “rite of passage” anyway.

Below is some information about a special project to celebrate them. Will you please be part of making this happen? If you are interested in how be part of this please contact me at lorene@mac.com  and I will put you in touch with the right people. These seniors are out future leaders and business people, let’s not forget them.

When you consider the date of “2020,” it will be forever linked to the global pandemic.  The term “2020,” during pre-pandemic times holds a different connotation, having “2020 vision or hindsight.” The senior class of 2020 needs the support of their community. So, a “2020 vision” is being crafted by staff members from three schools: North Bay Met Academy, Windsor Oaks Academy, Windsor High School and community members from Windsor's Parks and Recreation and the Chamber of Commerce. We have collaborated to create a 2020 visual celebration, to honor our seniors. Every senior deserves to be recognized and celebrated not only for their years of hard work and determination but also the grit and resilience they have demonstrated, throughout their high school years: 2020 COVID-19 Virus, the 2019 Kincade Fire and the 2017 Tubbs Fire. When we reflect on the high school experience, and the various rites of passage, pandemics and natural disasters are not part of the equation.

The class of 2020 has endured much, so in an effort to honor and celebrate each and every senior, we are crafting a “visual celebration,” composed of banners and signs for the Class of 2020!  The banners will have each of the seniors’ names emblazoned on them and be representative of each of our high school programs. Our “celebrate the Class of 2020” banners will be displayed throughout Windsor’s Town Green, in May. We admire, congratulate, celebrate and wish each senior the very brightest future possible.

Congratulations Class of 2020!

Please continue to follow and adhere to all current and required health and social distancing guidelines in our community.
