West County Health Centers to host 'Systems Mapping' Workshop

You are invited to a ‘Systems Mapping’ workshop hosted by

Opioid addiction is an example of a critical problem for our community, families and neighbors yet is complex and messy and requires a thoughtful understanding of the underlying forces, and a collective approach to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact.

We would be honored to have you participate in this process with us.

Agenda: One-day community workshop designed to find collective understanding and narratives around the topic of community opioid addiction. This process will be engaging and highly interactive with a goal of creating a shared understanding of the underlying forces, and specific areas of potential impact. This will allow us to create an overarching systems map and narrative to use collectively moving forward.

Date: Wednesday, May 29th

Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Location: Guerneville School, 14630 Armstrong Woods Rd., Guerneville, CA 95446.

Who should attend:

• Organizations working with community members affected by addiction – law enforcement, first responders, healthcare, recovery support, housing, public health, pharmacy, mental health, policy.

• Organizations supporting community resilience – education, social support, faith-based organizations, community advocacy, community leadership.

• Those with lived life experience with addiction including family members, friends, neighbors

• Engaged citizens

Systems mapping helps us to take the focus off the problems that we observe on a daily basis and instead seek to understand the underlying drivers or dynamics that produce these problems. Once we understand these patterns that are at the source of our challenges, we are better equipped to make more comprehensive and strategic decisions about how we might shift things.

We will send more information closer to the day of the event, but for now we hope that this stimulates your curiosity and commitment to set the day aside to join us. We deeply value your perspective and truly welcome your engagement as we all work together to create a better, healthier future for all residents in our community.

Thank you and please reply no later than May 24th with your affirmative RSVP to Eve Harstad at eharstad@wchealth.org

Please feel free to share this opportunity with those in your network that would add impact to this topic and day of exploration.
