The Town will be hosting a Business Community Preparedness Workshop

Itā€™s August, and I just checked out the window, and sadly we are still living in this crazy COVID-19 world. Itā€™s been overwhelming to have the business open and then required to close again. Iā€™ve spoken to Windsor residents, and businesses feel like pretzels because of all the twisting and turning.

I genuinely believe that this is Mother Nature is asking humans to take a break and look deep inside. Human beings are communal and have difficulty not being in pods (around other people, but also do not like being told what to do. COVID-19 has not affected animals or other gifts of nature. Honestly, in my opinion, human beings are not doing well at this lesson, and we are shutting down again.

Lessons included slowing down, keeping distant from one another, and putting on masks (oh man this one is the worst). All are simple lessons, but we continue to fight it, which means COVID-19 will continue to spread. Mother Nature is putting her hands out and gently pushing us down, like a horse whisper taming a wild stallion. The more we resist the more she will push down until she is the master.

The other lesson we are poised to learn now is about racism. Nationally we have seen protests, both peaceful and violent. It really has been a challenging time and with Shelter in Place, we have been gifted time to look within. Yes, we have plenty of time on our hands, but itsā€™ not smokey outside like with Kincade.

On July 17th, the Windsor High School Center for Change and the Windsor Wellness Program partnered together for an evening of an event called Windsor Stands in Solidarity with music, art and guest speakers. The variety of speakers includes an SSU profession on African Studies, Vice Mayor Esther Lemus, Dr. Lamar Collins the Principal of Windsor High and the President and CEO of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce. Topics ranged from LatinX to Black Lives Matter to welcoming the Lytton Pomo tribe back home.
