Summer’s up - back to school in Forestville

In conjunction with Newline Skateparks, our skatepark team held its first skatepark design visioning session August 12. It was a good meeting with great community input. If you were unable to make it you can watch the recording on our Facebook page.

PLEASE take the short DESIGN SURVEY and tell us what you want in the park. This will be an all wheel park (skateboards, scooters, skates, wheelchairs, bikes), so input from all wheelers is appreciated!

If you won't be rolling in the park you can still take the survey to give your input. For example, do you want a shade structure, picnic tables, restrooms? Let us know! You only need to answer the questions you are comfortable answering.

Tuesday farmers market

The LAST of the season will be on Tuesday, Sept 28th with a few extras just for fun. We love these weekly opportunities to socialize with friends, eat dinner, and shop for fresh food, veggies, and fruit. Consider doing some of your holiday shopping before the end of this year’s market. There are some very creative artisan’s with unique crafts.

Saving El Molino-Analy-Laguna High Schools

Right after this column’s deadline we will know if we gathered enough signatures to recall Jeane Fernandes and Kellie Noe (Laurie Fadave resigned) of the WSCUHSD board. Explaining our combined perspective has been uniting El Molino, Analy, and Laguna high school parents and concerned community members.

Everyone involved has the same mission - recall the trustees who could not see the wisdom of waiting a year to give students an on-their-own-campus experience under SAFE Covid conditions before and while addressing the complexities of balancing the budget for these schools. “What’s the rush?” continues to be the question.

On September 23rd the Save Elmo lawsuit will go before a judge to determine if NOT following state rules, and NOT doing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) traffic and economic impact studies is enough to reverse the consolidation decision. Now that the Analy campus is open, potential problems our community was concerned about are becoming reality.

Brews and BBQ: Let’s eat!

Join us for Brews & BBQ - a fundraiser brought to you by C.A.R.E. in an effort to Save Our Schools! Saturday, September 11th 1-5pm at the Forestville Downtown Park. Price: 21+ $40 presale / $45 at door donation for the lawsuit. Sober drivers and kids are free!

This is a FUN way to raise money and spend time with your fellow West County parents, students, grandparents, and concerned citizens. Even if you don’t have kids in this school, students all the way to Fort Ross need our support on this!

Chamber of Commerce

The Sept 1 meeting opens elections for the board with potential nominations suggested at this meeting. By October, the board will hold elections to fill board seats for a two-year term. This is an in-person process at chamber meetings which are held the first Wednesday of every month at the Forestville Youth Park classroom at the upper parking lot.
