SMART Train Celebrates Opening Day in Railroad Square - SANTA ROSA

Join SMART Fans and Staff on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Santa Rosa Downtown SMART Station at 7 Fourth Street in Historic Railroad Square to celebrate the start of SMART’s new passenger rail service.

FREE Commemorative SMART T-shirt and a FREE Clipper card while supplies last!

SMART and Clipper will have outreach booths at the event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Santa Rosa CityBus and the Historic Railroad Square Association will also have booths at the event. SMART’s Grand Opening celebration includes food, entertainment, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with key dignitaries and a short inaugural train ride. Following the ceremony, SMART will launch its full passenger service beginning with the 12:49 p.m. run originating from the Sonoma County Airport Station.

Service will be free of charge on opening day. Please arrive early, as parking is limited. Additional parking is available at the City of Santa Rosa’s 7th Street garage at regular rates. Free shuttle service will be available to and from the 7th Street garage between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is the San Francisco Bay Area’s newest transportation option for travel, offering passenger rail service in Sonoma and Marin counties. SMART’s initial 43 miles of rail corridor includes 10 stations, from the Sonoma County Airport to Downtown San Rafael, and connects SMART passengers with jobs, education centers, retail hubs, and housing.
