Sheriff Candidate endorsements for John Mutz

John Mutz, former Commander and candidate for Sonoma County Sheriff is very honored to receive the endorsements of Noreen Evans (Senator, ret.), Julie Combs (Santa Rosa City Council), Teresa Barrett (Petaluma City Council), Matt Maguire (Petaluma City Council, ret.), Leah Gold (Healdsburg City Council), the Coalition for a Better Sonoma County and the North Bay Labor Council.

In offering her endorsement, Senator Evans said, “He will bring new, fresh, experienced leadership to our County and will stand up for us.

Councilwoman Combs noted: “John has the experience, compassion and values we need to lead the much needed change in the Sheriff’s Department. The time for change is now.”

The campaign out-raised both opponents, combined (as reported in the most recent filing). In addition to the local ground-swell of enthusiasm, John has been humbled by the support of the many officers who served under him over his 40-year career, and the many community members who saw these principles in action where John was in command.

Team Mutz is already regularly out walking in the community, hearing from neighbors and listening to concerns. “It’s clear the community knows it’s time for a change,” said John. “There’s a strong desire for the Sonoma Sheriff’s Department to better reflect and represent our community. Developing a culture based on dignity, respect, transparency and engagement will help keep everyone safer, better support our Deputies and create a more responsive Department. That’s what our community is looking for.
