Santa Rosa Garden Club – Robin Stockwell -The Succulent Guy Mar 15 ~ 2-4p Luther Burbank Art & Garden Center 2050 Yulupa Ave., Santa Rosa His talk will share his “different perspective” on succulents which was instrumental in new ways to use succulents. Stockwell created Succulent Gardens in Castroville, a 3-acre mecca for all things succulent. From floral arrangements to vertical gardens. His work caught the eye of designer/retailer Flora Grubb in San Francisco and garden writer Debra Lee Baldwin, bringing the beauty of succulents to a wider audience. Robin successfully drafted 40 years of hands-on knowledge into just one book, Succulents: The Ultimate Guide to Choosing, Designing and Growing 200 Easy-Care Plants, a bestseller just a few weeks after its release. Books will be sold and autographed at the event, and one lucky attendee will win a book! Stockwell’s book looks at a number of different design trends and shows how to use succulents for best visual impact in a variety of situations. At the same time, it’s also a succulent selection guide, with detailed information and photographs of some of the most popular and appealing varieties and cultivars. Crafters, too, will find plenty to interest them, with instructions included in the book on how to create succulent wreaths and other projects for the home and garden. Proceeds support Santa Rosa Garden Club’s educational programs and projects including scholarships at SRJC and local community gardens. $25 Tickets must be purchaced in advance. www.santarosagardenclub.com/special-events.html, gardenclubevents@yahoo.com, (707) 953-4241
