Online town hall Wednesday afternoon for Guernville

Sonoma County 5th District Supervisor Lynda Hopkins hosts a Guerneville town hall today (Wednesday October 6). This online event is at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to Supervisor Hopkins, speakers include Lower River MAC representatives Naomi Huffstutter and Nic Pereira, and Lois Lebovich on the Guerneville Fire Safe Council.

Hot topics include a proposal for the County to purchase Johnson’s Beach for multiple uses including a park, a navigation center for the unhoused, and workforce housing.

A discussion of local homeless encampments and the attendant fire risks is also on the agenda, as well as possible solutions for local homeless and mental health challenges including Laura’s Law, a California state law that allows for court-ordered assisted outpatient treatment.

The session will also be available on Supervisor Hopkins’ Facebook page, and will be available on the on District 5 Youtube channel the following day.
