NUNSTOCK, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence - October 2018

The

The Closet Ball began as an event for people with no clue about drag, who had never manifested in drag, grabbing clothes from the closet of someone (somenun?) of the opposite sex. The competitors initially come on stage as their manliest manly self or femmiest femme, and after an hour or so they come back transformed to compete as the opposite sex. Fabulous entertainers titillate during the transformation hour, and this year we have a killer lineup: Rahni NothingMore, Alotta Boutté, DivaD, Sister Phyliss, Mitchell Brothers, Dean DeeLeit, Nicholas Joseph Carrigan, Kim Rivera, Buddy Russell, Kristina McGraw, Sister Peghan Ritual, Joseph Bullock, Sister Kara Z'Matick, and Tom Orr. Proceeds from the Closet Ball will go back into the community via the Russian River Sisters’ grants program.

Our “Nunstock World Conclave” running Monday, October 8-14th, begins with a welcome pool party at the R3 Hotel in Guerneville on Monday, followed by a group manifestation and procession to the Guerneville plaza for opening ceremonies. It’s been ten long years since the last Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence conclave at the Russian River. The itinerary for SPI conclaves includes day-time seminars & workshops, sharing of make-up tips and “sistory” and opportunities to manifest together in service to our communities at special events.

Sister Scarlet Billows and the Nun So Blue, Sister Wilma Titzgro will host a Nunstock Give-BackTuesday on the 9th at the Rainbow Cattle Company on Main Street in Guerneville. Give-Back Tuesday will have a $5/plate potluck, an immense raffle and a few live auctions all for the benefit of the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. “Stewards” is a non-profit organization formed to promote, restore and protect the natural and cultural resources in our parks.

There will be several SPI workshops on Wednesdays, and a Community Art Class at Odd Fellows Hall which is open to the public. Sister Wilma Titzgro and Sister Bette Sheezahee will be offering a mask making class. Everyone is invited to join us for the Not Quite the Last Supper, supper at Chef Patrick’s Restaurant on Main Street in Guerneville. Visit www.rrsisters.org for more details about cost of the dinner, etc.

After a day of learning, sharing and Sistory, the nuns are inviting all saints and volunteers to Odd Fellows Hall in Guerneville for an appreciation event Thursday evening, October 11th. Daddy Guard Ian Avirtue will host the Saints & Sinners Barbecue to honor all RRSPI Saints. Celebrants are then encouraged to follow the nuns to West Sonoma Inn for an evening of bonding/sharing and celebration of the Nuns of the Above.

The Russian River Sisters invite you to Project Nunway Nunlimited: To Infinity and Beyond! This event was first created by the San Francisco Sisters over ten years ago by Sister Baba Ganesha and has become a world-wide phenomenon! It has spawned hundreds of events around the globe with the same premise: to create a new and unique Haute Couture designs out of recycled and/or recyclable materials called "Trashion" or "Garbage Couture". And what better place to do it but the Russian River, a place known for its River Clean Up and recycling efforts. Sister Sara tells us that she is “totally stoked to bring something different to the Russian River and to give these designers on opportunity to GO CRAZY.”

Nunlimited promises innovative and exciting entertainment, with proceeds to benefit Positive Images (www.posimages.com). Nuns are heading to the 3 Alarm Grill for brunch on SATURDAY OCT 13, then a lazy day by the pool at the R3 Hotel before manifesting for Stranger Things SUPER Bingo at Odd Fellows Hall in Santa Rosa. Sisters from around the world will be in attendance, each of them beautifully manifested in their best drag-nun attire! For this special evening, a fabulous pasta supper prepared by bingo chef, Saint Crab Mama will be served before the games begin (sorry, no Eggo waffles). Bingo players are encouraged to come to Bingo dressed in a costume related to our Stranger Things theme and participate in the costume contest for fabulous prizes! And Sister Nova Nilla is hard at work amassing a SUPER silent auction - so bring your checkbook (or credit card). You will be participating with your fellow players to raise money for Face to Face, Food for Thought, and PALS.
