North Coast Winds by Robin Joy Wellman - August 2019

Sitting on any beach is a plus. Sitting on a beach with people you love is a bonus. Blue Mind, Green Body, Red Soul! Mind body and soul! Blue represents water. Do you know about the Blue Mind movement? Being near the water changes your brain waves to a calmer inner peace. Check out these few YouTube docs at https://www.google.com/search?q=blue+mind+theory&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari

Green Body is the new movement which follows the scientific research that being outdoors lowers blood pressure, is an energy booster, gives us better focus and more. However it’s not a new idea. We all know how we feel after waking under the giant redwoods or nature of any kind Learn more here http://mentalfloss.com/article/70548/11-scientific-benefits-being-outdoors. And Red Soul/heart is the idea of being with people you love and who love you. Sharing stories, thoughts, and ideas with those close to you as you enjoy the outdoors can be the most uplifting thing you can do for yourself. Anyone up for a good walk at the ocean? Or along the River?

August is usually a bit hotter than other months. But in the coast, we have the rolling fog so you can find comfort in the coastal climes and beaches, tide pooling in safe areas (always putting everything back) and enjoy a few local creeks. Soda Springs in Annapolis is a wonderful hidden gem with a few old time rock BBQ pits. http://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Visit/Soda-Springs-Reserve/ . My boys spent most days here enjoying the swim holes. I recently made a visit with my youngest son Jake and granddaughter Makyla, and it hasn’t changed. Many Memories.

Memories of people and places are important. Fort Ross State Historic Park has Memorial benches that you can purchase in honor of someone who is living, or of those passed on, or of special occasions. I was blessed by many friends and volunteers with a bench in honor of my 27 years at Fort Ross. Please look for it as you walk inside the gate near the Rotchev House. Take a picture sitting on it and send it to me. For bench information Contactwww.fortross.org for more information.

Point Arena Lighthouse has several wonderful programs. Visit them at https://www.pointarenalighthouse.com for all events including lectures and full Moon tours.

Gualala Arts is always host to music, art, and classes. Learn more at http://gualalaarts.org/.

Timber Cove Resort continues to have fun evenings of music. Visit their web at https://www.timbercoveresort.com. If you are visiting, you are always welcome at all our hometown events and classes. There are many more wonderful places to visit and explore.

I wish you all a great month with the Blue Green Red thoughts and core values we all share. Blessings to you
