While selecting the shows for next season we noticed a trend. The main characters find themselves in a similar position. They all have a choice to make. Do they abide by the rules, expectations, conventions and traditions or do they break from them? So, we decided to challenge our own rules.
As you know by now, Left Edge is committed to bringing the absolute best and boldest plays to Sonoma County. Plays which have never been produced here before and are fresh. Written no more than 6 years ago. This season, for one show only, we will break our own rule. NUTS by Tom Topper launches our season. Written in 1979 and produced locally by Actors Theatre of Sonoma County in 1983. Why you may ask?
We consider Actors Theatre of Sonoma County our parent theatre. They were the first local company to focus entirely on bold and contemporary theatre. They hit the scene with the show NUTS produced in an empty storefront in the brickyard center to sold out audiences each night. They realized that this town was hungry for brave new work. And so, we are proud to give this still timely and provocative play a revival as we pay homage to Actors Theatre.
