Help Daily Acts Transform a Petaluma Fire Station

By Annie Silverman

A month ago, I witnessed a car accident on the 101 and called 911. Who responded? Firefighters. Captain Kevin Weaver stated that many of their calls are in response to medical emergencies. In a 2018 interview with the Argus-Courier, Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Schach said that the Petaluma Fire Department has experienced a 32 percent increase in calls.

We at Daily Acts want to say thank you by transforming their yard from minimally landscaped to lovingly landscaped.

Daily Acts is an ecological non-profit committed to building community through landscape transformations. We invite you to take part in appreciating all the work that our firefighters do for us by installing a beautiful water-wise garden and irrigation system. The landscape design will focus on exclusively low water-use native and native adapted plants for dry shade site conditions.

Join us for this fun-filled celebration of our firefighters, our community, and the power of plants to create a resilient ecosystem. Everyone is welcome at this event from those wanting hands-on experience planting and installing an irrigation system to those wanting to ask questions and provide moral support. We’ll be sharing a potluck lunch between planting and installing the irrigation system. Please come out and help make this project a success!

Register for this free event on ourwebsite.

When: March 16th from 10am-3pm

Where: Fire Station #2, 1001 N. McDowell Blvd, Petaluma.

What to bring: A potluck item to share, a hand trowel (if you have it), a chair should you desire to sit throughout the event, and good cheer.
