Guerneville Groove by Beth Rudometkin - June 2018

I try to keep this column on the “up” side, try to talk about fun and positive happenings in our community, but recently, this area has experienced quite a bit of the bad and it’s time for it to stop! We all need to stay vigilant at watching out for each other, be aware of what’s happening around us, in our neighborhoods and in town; keep each other as well as the Sheriff, informed.

In the past 30 days, we have had numerous hate crimes committed, numerous burglaries and numerous vehicles have been stolen!

In one instance, the renters of an Airbnb had the garage full of stolen property! Let’s not forget bomb threats at Safeway, Rainbow flags stolen and thrown in the river, Parade decorations stolen off of a float before it was decorated the morning of the parade…Really? Who does that?

Enough is enough! There’s a new “element” in town which needs to go away! Let’s make these thieves and scumbags uncomfortable. Call the Sheriff, install motion lights, install cameras; call these creeps out on their actions! If you see someone lurking around, hit the panic button on your car key pad. Sorry neighbors, it may be annoying, but I’d rather wake you up with my alarm, instead of having work tools stolen out of the truck, lawn furniture, cars or a floating dock…all stolen…

Now on to the groovy stuff!

Friday, June 1st is the First Friday Art Walk of the summer! Let’s enjoy all of the beautiful artwork our local artists have been working on all winter. Receptions and shows will be throughout town, so grab a map at theVisitor’s Center on the Plaza!
