Guerneville Groove by Beth Rudometkin — February 2019

Hey there all of you groovy readers out there! Yes, that’s right….the Guerneville Groove is back!

Thank you to Stephen Gross for stepping up and producing the Eclectic Guerneville column in my absence; we thoroughly appreciated your writing! Now let’s jump right in to what is happening in our groovy Community!

New News!

At the time of this writing, David Blomster, (Pat’s) has assured me that by the time you are reading this, the newly remodeled restaurant will have opened and you all should be enjoying the new atmosphere and delicious food! Be sure to email me your reviews; I want to tell everyone next month all about it, as to this day, it is still “under wraps”. I hear we are in for a wonderful surprise!

Speaking of new kitchens, our groovy Seniors, have a beautiful newly remodeled commercial kitchen! The Russian River Senior Center is now serving a new bistro menu. Lunches are served Wednesdays and Fridays 11:30-12:30; $4 donation for those over 60, $6.50 for guest under 60….what a DEAL! Call 707-823-1640 ext. 400 for the menu.

While we are on the subject of food…….we said goodbye to Seaside Metal and Chef Patrick’s this last month; they will be missed! So many fond memories of community gatherings and milestone birthday celebrations at Chef Patrick’s. We all wish him well in the future.

El Molino High School is having another Chilingo fundraiser! $5 includes a bowl of chili + 3 bingo cards; $1 more and you get 3 more cards. They are also having a Bake Sale and if you would like to enter your special chili into the judging, contact jbroo@106@wscuhsd.k12.ca.us. This will be held on Thursday, February 7th. Montgomery School is having its 1st Annual Pasta Feed at the Cazadero Volunteer Fire Dept on Saturday February 16th from 5-9pm. Live music by Rowdy River Special, food, wine, beer, and raffle! $10 tickets are available at the Caz Gen Store & Duncan Mills Store. Let’s support our local schools!!

Guerneville Library Help is a free program for students K-12 to receive free homework help in all subjects. It is available on Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30. Help your students build confidence & get better grades! Brought to you by the Sonoma County Library.

Mix it UP! On Wednesday, February 6th, the Russian River Chamber of Commerce will be having its monthly mixer at Emeritus Winery from 6-8pm. This is a great opportunity for you to network with your local business community and also, meet and greet the newly elected Chamber Board! There are two vacant seats available to be filled, should you be interested in volunteering for your community, please contact the Chamber Office at 869-9000.

NEED some MONEY? The fabulously groovy Russian River Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, grant application cycle, opens February 1st. If you are an organization or community entity who would like to apply for a grant, please contact Sister Nova for more details or go to www.rrsisters.org. The Sister’s have been the backbone of this communities successful fundraising events and we are forever grateful!!

So much more groovy stuff happening, but I am running out of my allotted space, so as a close, I’d like to say how honored I am to be back writing the Guerneville Groove and appreciate all of your support in convincing me to do so!

I would like for us all to remember, honor and hold dearly in our hearts, a few locals we lost recently, who will be forever cherished and never forgotten: John Seymour, Brenda Alvarez and Henk deWildt. And we will continue to send positive, healing thoughts to Heidi Allen, Jesse Maxwell and Jenny Skelton.

If you wish to send me news to include in our next edition, our deadline is typically the 16th of the month; please email me at Pinnacle Capital Mortgage,brudometkin@pcmloan.com or drop by the office at 16190 Main Street, next door to Russian River Realty.
