There are lots of things to love this February month in our groovy town! HUGE shout out to Roger Jensen and his team at the R3, all of the donors/groovy town folk and Lazy Bear Fund (David Barker) for all of your hard work, dedication and love you put in to raising $17,000 for the Community Foundation of Sonoma County fire relief fund! All of the funds will be helping fire survivors with long-term assistance, from housing to mental health. Again, 100% of the funds will remain in Sonoma County! You all sacrificed weeks of your time and put so much into this fundraiser and we appreciate all of you groovy peeps!

Did you hear? that the Russian River Blues Festival will be held this year separate from the Jazz Festival? I remember years ago, the Blues Festival being in June and the Jazz Festival in September…well, dejavu…this year is the 100 year/Centennial Celebration of Johnson’s Beach and it kicks off on Saturday, June 9th with an exciting day of music and then Sunday the 10th, groove to the blues! More information will be announced in the future, but stay in the know, by visiting johnsonbeach.com/events.

Join us!Wednesday, February 7th is the Russian River Chamber of Commerce Mixer which will be held at the Surrey Gym. Check out the new and remodeled digs from 6-8pm! The entrance is off of Gabes Rock Road, just before Wishes and Secrets Hair Salon.

BINGO! Don’t forget to purchase your brown paper bag tickets for Sisters’ Bingo! This month theme is Sweethearts & Sugar Daddies and it benefits the Russian River Sisters Operating Fund & Programs. You can purchase tickets online at rrsisters.org. This month is also the opening of the Grant Application Cycle onFebruary 1st and it will run through February 28th!Applications are only available on the Russian River Sisters website! Any questions can be directed to Sister Nova Villa at sisterNova@rrsisters.org. Thank you Sisters for all you do for our community!

Spring is just around the corner and Christina over at the True Value Nursery has been working hard on the design of the Garden Dept! It will be much more spacious and efficient and will be offering starters for vegetable gardens, along with exotic tomatoes grown on site. There will be a “closed safe plant shopping zone” in front of the store that will feature the traditional picket fence and plant displays.

SHOP LOCALLY please! If you are looking to purchase something special for your Valentine, shop local at any of our groovy stores! 5 & 10 has a variety of candy, toys, doilies and cards for both children and adults. Lark Drug has a nice selection of beautiful scarves, stuffed animals, candy hearts and also cards for both children and adults. Big Bottom Market will be featuring their Aphrodisiac Biscuit Mix (dark chocolate & cherries in the mix) and selling amazing local artisan handmade felt creations with a love theme. “Nothing like chocolate and cherries to get the heart pumping”, says the groovy Donna Prowse. These will be featured through Valentine’s Day and the daily biscuit specials will also have some sweet inspiration as well. Equality Vines Tasting Room will be pairing wine and chocolates on Valentine’s Day; complimentary gourmet and local chocolates will be offered with any tasting.

Check it out…where Love Wins!
