Letter from Board President

& Board of Directors Meetings

Jan 29, 2019

December 26, 2018

Dear Employees, Families, and Community Members in the Forestville Union School District:

First, I am excited to serve you as the new board president in our district.  We have an awesome board and are looking forward to working with our entire school community to lead our district to new heights.

I’m writing to give you an update on the process to search for our next district leader.  The typical first step in the process to search for a Superintendent (or whatever the title will be of our new leader) is to find out from as many people as possible what is desired as far as how qualified he or she is and what kind of personal attributes are needed to thrive in Forestville.

Dr. Scott Mahoney, the consultant we hired to gather the input, interviewed employees, parents, and members of our broader community on December 17th and 19th.   Dr. Mahoney held these meetings with individuals and groups of people to find out what is amazing about our district, what everyone perceives to be our current and upcoming challenges, and who everyone believes would best serve our district as far as qualifications and personal attributes.  In order to accommodate as many people as possible we have scheduled one additional group input meeting with Dr. Mahoney on January 9th, at 6:00 pm, in the library.

Such information has also been collected from the community using an online survey.  I encourage everyone to complete the survey so we have as much input as possible before we proceed with the process. The link to the survey is:

Your opportunity to complete the survey has been extended to January 6th.  Dr. Mahoney also encourages anyone to call him directly to offer input.  He can be reached by phone at(707) 953-3434, or email  All input collected will be reviewed by our Board and used to help us decide on next steps to take in the search process.

It is vitally important to our Board that we receive your input so we can create a profile of the ideal new superintendent and then search for candidates who meet that profile.  If at any time you do not believe there is an opportunity to provide input, please let me or another trustee know.

Max Broome, Board President
