Folklight Film Club takes Locals behind the scenes of Making a Movie

Folklight Film Club, a new Sonoma County-based film production company that’s created a wine club-inspired membership experience around making a movie. Go to cool and unique events, get a glimpse behind-the-scenes, and get the opportunity to actually influence and inspire the movie being made.

Nine events include a panel discussion with the cast and filmmakers, a concert of the original soundtrack, member-made short films, a festival of member shorts, and the Red Carpet Premiere. Members also get creative say in the film - such as inspiring the story and casting a role. In addition, a very limited number of memberships for people who wish to learn filmmaking through weekend intensives with Hollywood professionals and gain on-set experience are also available. “We’re making the world’s first farm-to-table film - where local people are the farm and our team of Hollywood professionals is the chef. We’re also excited to take filmmaking back to storytelling’s original roots in strengthening the bonds of a community through shared stories.” says Executive Artistic Director Brooke Tansley - a Transcendence Theatre Company alum and executive producer of Sonoma Laughest, “Folklight Film Club is an entirely new concept and we’re proud to be making a film expressly for our local community, collaborating with both local and Hollywood professionals to make it happen, giving local people the opportunity get behind-the-scenes, and enjoying time together at some really fun and unique events.”

Membership enrollment is open now only while supplies last. Space is very limited. Residents of Sonoma, Napa, Marin, and Mendocino counties are invited to join. The two-year membership, including all the events and engagement, is $79 quarterly (less than the average wine club). Discounts are available for making yearly or one-time payments, and for pairs or groups. Membership will close once all spots have been filled.

Over a two-year events and engagement membership experience, we make a feature film inspired by you, and you are on the inside track of the entire process.

It's farm-to-table filmmaking - you are the farm, our professional creative team is the chef. We're borrowing the wine club model for filmmaking.

We're changing the way films get made, we're making them grounded in a new set of values, and bringing filmmaking back to the original purpose of storytelling - strengthening the bonds of a community through shared stories, values, and quality time spent together.

Our screenwriter writes a screenplay inspired by you, our members. Nine unique events with steady engagement through the filmmaking process gives you creative say in the making of this film shot here in Sonoma County, and we end with our Members' Red Carpet Premiere where we enjoy your completed film.

Brooke Tansley: A 28-year entertainment industry veteran, I first came to Sonoma County from Los Angeles in 2011 withTranscendence Theatre Company, and after several successful seasons helping build that company here in Sonoma County, began laying the groundwork for Folklight. I'm thrilled to be bringing Folklight to life here in the North Bay. It's an entirely new business model for filmmaking thoroughly inspired by this place, and this idea could have only come forth here.
