Feeling Graton by Jennifer Butler

Greetings Graton!

Aug 1, 2018

Share:

Graton has been a bustle of summer activity. The Graton Green Village housing is coming along and downtown is looking different. I am so excited to see the blackberries starting to ripen. Looking forward to making pies, jams and syrup! I hope that everyone is feeling well and enjoying all the bounty of local fruits and vegetables.

Graton Green Gathering woo hoo!

We’re calling it the Graton Green Gathering this year—our third annual party, Sunday, September 30th from 2:00–6:00 PM at Graton Labor Center (Centro Laboral). This is the last year that we will be holding the event here because, great news, next year we will be holding the gathering at the Green. Yes! That means we finally own the land where Critch Flows, between Edison, Bowen and Shirley streets!

Plan to come for the fun, the music, the food and to celebrate this big event in Graton’s history. Plans for the Green will be available for your review and input. Folks at last year’s Graton Park party voted to call the new park, The Graton Green, like the common space that served villages of yesteryear, and for green reason too.

For more information, and if you’d like to volunteer to help set up/take down, recycle, serve food, help with the children’s events, and spread the word, please callHolLynn D’Lil at (707) 829 9440 or contact her at hdlil@comcast.net

Homeless in Graton

I very tentatively write about our expanding motorhome population and car campers. Some of my neighbors feel very compassionate and tolerant while others state that they feel unsafe and concerned. There is worry that people don’t have adequate housing and concern that this will have a negative impact on the community. I am hoping to hear from you. How do you feel about this situation in Graton and do you have any helpful suggestions? Please e-mail me your thoughts, ideas or questions. I will include them in next month’s publication.

Check this out

Look at this adorable little addition to the free library on Grey Street! The lower portion opens and has free children’s books. It’s so cute. You can stop by during your walk or ride on the trail.

I know this isn’t happening in Graton but I do want to promote the important upcoming event called CapFest 2018! This family fun affair is a fundraiser for Sloan and Harold’s Women’s Houses. There will be dancing, live and silent auction, raffle, costume contest, kid’s area and fun. Tuesday, August 21st 2018 5:30pm-8: 30 pm at Lagunitas Brewing in Petaluma. Live music by the Interpretations. Buy your tickets in advance. Got tocapsonoma.org. Kids under 5 are free!

This looks pretty

Willowwood just finished a pretty remodel of the outdoor patio. I appreciate that owner Matthew continues to make improvements on his properties.
