Graton has been a bustle of summer activity. The Graton Green Village housing is coming along and downtown is looking different. I am so excited to see the blackberries starting to ripen. Looking forward to making pies, jams and syrup! I hope that everyone is feeling well and enjoying all the bounty of local fruits and vegetables.
We’re calling it the Graton Green Gathering this year—our third annual party, Sunday, September 30th from 2:00–6:00 PM at Graton Labor Center (Centro Laboral). This is the last year that we will be holding the event here because, great news, next year we will be holding the gathering at the Green. Yes! That means we finally own the land where Critch Flows, between Edison, Bowen and Shirley streets!
Plan to come for the fun, the music, the food and to celebrate this big event in Graton’s history. Plans for the Green will be available for your review and input. Folks at last year’s Graton Park party voted to call the new park, The Graton Green, like the common space that served villages of yesteryear, and for green reason too.
For more information, and if you’d like to volunteer to help set up/take down, recycle, serve food, help with the children’s events, and spread the word, please callHolLynn D’Lil at (707) 829 9440 or contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
I very tentatively write about our expanding motorhome population and car campers. Some of my neighbors feel very compassionate and tolerant while others state that they feel unsafe and concerned. There is worry that people don’t have adequate housing and concern that this will have a negative impact on the community. I am hoping to hear from you. How do you feel about this situation in Graton and do you have any helpful suggestions? Please e-mail me your thoughts, ideas or questions. I will include them in next month’s publication.
