FEED it FORWARD >> Sonoma County

Feed It Forward >> Sonoma County, a small community group made up of volunteers, has a mission to promote goodwill and random acts of kindness for Sonoma County residents experiencing job or income loss due to the Coronavirus shelter-in-place orders.

www.FeedItForwardSonomaCounty.org went live on April 7th, and its goal is to help keep Sonoma County restaurants in business while providing a meal for those suffering financially during this uncertain time.

Feed It Forward >> Sonoma County's mission is to support our neighbors and family-run restaurants through anonymous sponsorship of meals for people out of work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The funds are used to purchase gift cards for take-out from small local family-run restaurants, which are given to Sonoma County residents who have requested a gift card through the site.

Sonoma County residents are encouraged to sign up anyone they know who has lost income due to Covid- 19 (including themselves) for a gift card at FeedItForwardSonomaCounty.org.

Feed It Forward >> Sonoma Countyā€™s starting goal was to raise $10,000, which would have supplied a $40 meal gift card for about 250 local people. In three months the Feed It Forward Go Fund Me campaign well exceeded that goal and has raised over $38,000 because of the generosity and kindness of Sonoma County residents. We have distributed over 300 gift cards so far, and have funneled over $14,000 into small local restaurants.

Kim Isley, a local business owner and Santa Rosa resident, thought of the idea, built the website and recruited other volunteers to help. Kim says, ā€œOur county has been through a lot, and time and time again we are there for each other. I think we all learned from the Tubbs fire that when disaster strikes, Sonoma County folks come together. I wanted to do something that would give people a way to take care of each other even while weā€™re all stuck at home. We appreciate and love our culinary diversity and want to do what we can to help small restaurants stay afloat while helping folks who could use a take-out meal as a gift.ā€

Feed It Forward >> Sonoma County is a small grass-roots effort to save our small local restaurants from the financial devastation of COVID-19 while supporting our neighbors who are experiencing the hardship of job and income loss.
