Sebastopol Independent Film Festival: Don’t miss this year’s event!

Aside from being National Music in Schools month, National Celery Month, and National Peanut month; it is also National Women's History Month. Fun fact that this movement started right here in Sonoma Count. Its birthplace was in Santa Rosa, with a vision to bring women back into history.

Soroptimist International of West Sonoma County, whose birthplace was in Sebastopol in 2019, offers a scholarship called Live Your Dream, to a local woman head of household, with dependents, and pursuing a higher education. Over half of the Live Your Dream Awards recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking or sexual assault. Nearly all of the women and families we serve have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, teen pregnancy, and drug or alcohol addiction. Live Your Dream Awards recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation. They will be celebrating this local momma this month. For more information on this scholarship or to learn more about this service club please contact: westsonomacounty@soroptimist.net

Anamika Mishra says it best that "Flowers and colours everywhere, I am so glad that March is here." There is much to be explored during this beautiful time of year. I encourage you to get outside and explore all that Sebastopol has to offer.
