CTE Foundation New Grant Awards for 2020-2021 Academic Year
The Career Technical Education (CTE) Foundation Board of Directors has approved over $300,000 in grant funding for the 2020-2021 school year.
Funding will support students from Cloverdale to Sonoma Valley with classroom grants for industry-grade equipment purchases, professional development and innovative course topics including regenerative agriculture, veterinary science and welding technology – all with an emphasis on hands-on learning and career exploration.
“CTE Foundation’s evolution continues, and we are excited to bring these innovative learning opportunities to our students in their high school classrooms,” said Lynn Stauffer, Dean of Science and Technology at Sonoma State University and CTE Foundation Board Member and Grants Committee Chair. “We are seeing more students better prepared for life after high school, whether it be at a 2- or 4- year college or directly into careers that are in demand in Sonoma County.”
Now in its seventh funding cycle, CTE Foundation has invested over $3 million since its founding in 2013, creating new programs that connect students to employers for career exploration and skill-building and spurring over 100 new classes in local schools that focus on career and technical education aligned with industries including engineering, manufacturing, agriculture, health, and the construction trades.
In addition to grants for schools, the CTE Foundation invests in programs that increase relevance for student learning from the classroom to real life. Students enrolled in these programs are engaged, active learners who graduate at higher rates and are better prepared for the rigors of both college and career than their non-CTE counterparts.
