My first mystery novel arrives in June!
After many years of preparation, I am pleased to announce that my first novel will be released in June 2018. The title is Red Sky at Night: Dog Leader Mysteries. The story involves a young girl, named Nevada and her town. Nevada is a hotheaded twelve-year-old girl who dreams of rescuing and training dogs like her grandmother. Her grandmother mentors Nevada in dog training, helping her understand that dogs need human leaders to live safely and socialize in the world. One night, though, Nevada’s safe, happy life changes when the sky burns red.
Nevada races to save a family and their barn cats from a wildfire. Although her father isn’t too happy with her recklessness, she’s hailed a hero in her small town of Eagle Creek, California. Unfortunately, the fires aren’t over. Local ranchers will soon depend on Nevada to stop a serial arsonist and his greedy plans.
After her school is torched and the damage blamed on students, Nevada—along with her best pals and some furry friends—track down an angry firebug. Nevada and friends race to catch the bad guy before another fire destroys their home. This is a dangerous adventure, and at first Nevada does not understand the kind of villain she is tracking.

Redwood Writer Pamela Fender hosts this fun event at Copperfield’s Booksonly in July. This will be her sixth year of service to writers and readers. She organizes the dates with the book shop, invites RWC book authors to read from and sell their books onjust four Tuesday nights. Luckily, I will be presenting on the first night in 2018. I plan to return each Tuesday in July to hear and buy other authors’ books.
