CHOICE Season for
The Santa Rosa Symphony

Jun 28, 2017

Santa Rosa Symphony’s 90th season, its sixth as resident orchestra of the Green Music Center, is highlighted by its search for its next music director. Five of the most talented and accomplished conductors, from across the nation and beyond, will conduct their handcrafted programs, each featuring a piano concerto played by a world-renowned pianist, from October through February. In March 2018, one of these five guest conductors will be chosen as the Symphony’s fourth Music Director, to begin the following season.

Bruno Ferrandis will lead the orchestra in his last two concert sets as SRS Music Director in the spring of 2018. In April, Ferrandis’s program includes Dharma at Big Sur by Pulitzer-prize-winning John Adams, featuring electric violinist Tracy Silverman, for whom the work was commissioned, and Alexander Nevsky, featuring the SSU Symphonic Chorus and mezzo-soprano Jacalyn Kreitzer. Ferrandis bids au revoir with Mahler’s “Farewell” Symphony No. 9 in early May.

The Santa Rosa Symphony offers a variety of subscription packages to accommodate the varied schedules of North Bay classical music lovers for its CHOICE season. Classical music lovers may choose from the following 2017-2018 Classical Series subscription packages: Full 7-Concert Classical Series Subscription, a 5-Concert Conductor Candidates Series (October through February concerts), a 4-Concert Mini Subscription (good for any four concerts), Come As You Can package (8 vouchers, good for one ticket each) or the new Sweetheart Series package of two vouchers, each good for two tickets to a Saturday evening performance of the patron’s choosing.
