Cazadero Communications by Natasha Pehrson - February 2018

As I look out of the window of my cosy cyber-hut, the overcast sky outlines the large redwoods. We are in the midst of a cold spell, with more rain coming shortly! Not as much as last year at this time, but it is a good beginning! Please be extra careful while driving and join me in my chant to the trees: “Please don’t fall on my house, head or car and I won’t cut you down!”

We are approaching Valentine’s Day and that is a terrific time to show your sweetie your love, whether with chocolate, flowers or just plain old “tender lovin’ care”! One time while visiting Nepal, I amazed my husband Gregorio by whipping out a heart-shaped box of See’s candies that I had hidden in my luggage for a surprise! Visit one of our wonderful local stores, such as Mr.Trombly’s Teas and Table, Gold Coast Coffee Roastery and Bakery in Duncans Mills, the Cazadero and Duncans Mills General Stores for many locally produced items, or have a festive meal at Cape Fear, the Blue Heron or River’s End. A visit to Caz Central, a quirky shop located next to the Cazadero General Store will inspire you, too! Check out Raymond’s Bakery for Friday Pizza and Music Nights and seasonal goodies!

Remember that the 1st Saturday of each month is 15% Discount day for Cazadero Supply, with many great products for your winter vehicle, garden and household projects.

Montgomery School starts off February with a concert by the Santa Rosa String Quartet on the 1st, with students from the Fort Ross School also attending. This is a reschedule from their previous date, which occurred during the fires. On the 5th the lower grades will celebrate the 100th day of school. Celebrating this day of school is a great way for teachers to celebrate the various mathematical concepts that can be taught using the number 100. There are two Federal holidays, with the school celebrationg Lincoln’s birthday on the 12th and President’s Day on the 19th, with no school on both days. And then there’s Valentine’s Day, especially celebrated by the lower grades with play, cards, and yummies

The great Sky Garden is looking for new subscribers. A reasonable fee will help make you into a gardener! Please contact Cathy at schezer@comcast.net for more information.
