ALBERT IS COMING TO TOWN! ALBERT HITCHCOCK’S MOVIES THAT IS! - You know the guy, the gal and the attack birds? Who doesn’t? You would think after all these years the excitement would die down. There are folks all over the world obsessed with all things Hitchcock, especially the movie “The Birds” filmed in Bodega Bay, Bodega, Tomales and along the coast. It is a “must see” once a year!

IT MAY BE ABOUT “THE BIRDS” BUT ITS A FUNDRAISER!- The Bodega Bay Area Chamber is once again hosting the Hitchcock Film Fest. The dates are March 27th and 28th at the Bodega Bay Grange. On Friday, March 27th, showing of The Bird’s at 7:00 pm and benefits the Bodega Bay Grange Commercial Kitchen build. On Saturday, March 28th a 12:00 pm showing of “The Trouble with Harry”, at 3:30 pm “The Birds” and at 7:00 pm “The Man Who Knew Too Much”. Saturday’s event benefits the Arts Program at the Bodega Bay Elementary School and the Tomales Elementary School. FAMILY DESPERATELY NEEDS WHEELCHAIR VAN - A local Bodega Bay Nonprofit, Waves of Compassion Foundation, is asking for your donation. Several years ago, we worked to raise money to buy a specialized van for this family when their young sons were first diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy requiring wheelchairs. It is a devastating, debilitating disease yet this family perseveres. They need a new van. Please donate. WHY I LOVE BODEGA BAY - Kathe Foster, a very dear friend, shared: As a relatively newcomer, now calling Bodega Bay my home, I must say every day amazes me here. Mostly the people, and the very generous spirit of those I come into contact with. Everyone seems to want to give to others and help those in need ~ we are trying to join in that spirit of giving and helping, working with Waves of Compassion. Also, everywhere I look I need to stop and appreciate my surroundings ~ it could not be more beautiful! The surf, the surrounding hills, the sky. Yesterday we walked Portuguese Beach ~ the drama was unbelievable. The ocean was making sure it was heard . . . Kaboom! The crashing waves were like thunder; they exploded against the rocks. looking like an erupting volcano. On the way back to our house a few deer grazing in the open space looked up and said ‘hello’ ~ we nodded back, then waved at a neighbor before settling into our place for the evening. We are so blessed to live here.

MISSING MY DAD– Mike Ambrosino, who introduced me to the wonders of Bodega Bay, passed away at 94 on February 25th. Back in the day, he would fly his airplane from the East Bay and land on Salmon Creek Beach. Now that is a tricky landing and take-off. He loved the tailwinds to get him home fast. My mom and dad used to take us Abalone diving & rock picking on the Bodega Head and up the coast. They would tie a rope around our waist when we were going down the dangerous trails to the coastal tidepools and rocks to keep us safe! We would dig for clams and dine on fabulous clam cakes or crabs boiled in sea water. He also built all of his boats that we went fishing in, including one with a cabin that kept us warm. Such a rich life he brought to me and all those who knew him.

After spending most of her career relocating corporate employees around the world, she began two successful family businesses in the coastal town of Bodega Bay, California with her daughter Alicia and her husband Paul. Patty has been coming to Bodega Bay her entire life and moved to the coastal town 12 years ago.

Patty is Vice President of Waves of Compassion Foundation, offering the first food pantry for the coastal community; Director for Bodega Bay CERT, helping Bodega Bay be prepared for a local disaster & Director for Bodega Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, assisting local businesses manage the unique coastal business environment. She began the Bodega Bay Collaborative, a group dedicated to providing information to the residents of Bodega Bay on the opportunities and challenges in their beloved village. Patty currently is serving as an appointee of Supervisor Hopkins on the Sonoma County Tourism Board of Directors. She was recognized by the Sonoma County Tourism Board with the Hospitality of the Year 2018 award for her leadership role during the 2017 Firestorm, as well as by Congressman Mike Thompson and Supervisor, Susan Gorin. She was also the recipient of the 2020 Community Member of the year award from Bodega Bay Fire Protection District. Patty was selected for the North Bay Spirit Award from the Press Democrat.

Patty enjoys hiking the Sonoma Coast, many times leading the hike offering bits of history with the goal that others will love & respect the coast as much as she does.
