Bodega Bay: Bodega Bay Tidings – November 2020

A Nod to our Nonprofits

ALWAYS REMEMBERING TO BE THANKFUL - As we begin the November month of being thankful, let’s take a look at how blessed we are and how we can show our local nonprofits and fabulous folks how much we appreciate all they do! DONATE! SUPPORT! Unfortunately, due to the Pandemic, many of the fundraising events were canceled so donations are critical for them to continue their much-needed charity work and assistance in Bodega Bay.

TOYS FOR THE CHILDREN OF BODEGA BAY AREA – Once again Santa will come to our village giving out toys and joy! Bring a new unwrapped toy to the Pelican Plaza Deli at 1400 Highway 1 or Porto Bodega at 1500 Bay Flat Road, Bodega Bay. You can also donate cash! Thank you to Kelly Martin, Connie Bennett, Alicia Ginochio & Deputy Jason Pasero for leading this wonderful event celebrating the holidays with children’s smiles.

HELPING BODEGA BAY BE PREPARED FOR ANOTHER DISASTER – Bodega Bay CERT, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, helps Bodega Bay be prepared for a disaster. This year we expanded the number of sheds and supplies across Bodega Bay. We added Pandemic Supplies with Personal Protection Equipment such as gloves, masks, face shields, gowns and more to the ten sheds. They are in need of additional supplies to keep Bodega Bay ready in case of a disaster. Donate to: https://bodega-bay-cert.square.site Don’t miss our next General Meeting discussing the Disaster Sheds & Holiday Safety presentation on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at 6 p.m. Learn more at www.bodegabaycert.org.

A NEW COMMERCIAL KITCHEN IS NEEDED! The Bodega Bay Grange needs your donations to complete a much-needed upgrade to their kitchen. In 2017, during the devastating Tubbs Fire, the commercial kitchen was shut down by the Sonoma County Health Department serving as an emergency center for hundreds of evacuees as the kitchen was not approved by the Health Department. Yes, hard to believe the county would shut it down when it was providing such needed nourishment…It will cost $150,000 to upgrade the kitchen to meet requirements. This is vital to Bodega Bay as the disasters continue and Bodega Bay is the safe haven. Please make checks out to Bodega Bay Grange and mail to BB Grange, PO Box 152, Bodega Bay, CA 94923. Please fold or cut on the lines below and give us your contact information. Or you can use PayPal and make your donation to bbgrange777@att.net.

FIGHTING FIRES & SAVING LIVES – Our local Bodega Bay Firefighters Association has been busy during the Pandemic and helping with all the fires. Their paramedic staff and our ambulance also save our lives! I can’t say enough about how absolutely amazing our firefighters and paramedics are. Bodega Bay is blessed to have these highly trained and dedicated firefighters and paramedics right here in our beloved town. Unfortunately, we receive so little back from the County and State taxes collected to cover their costs; they absolutely need your support! Please donate: https://bbfa-116126.square.site. They are a nonprofit 501(c)3 as well.

FOOD PANTRY BY WAVES OF COMPASSION – We have received such wonderful community support for our food pantry held on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Bodega Bay Grange. Did you know we also provide financial support for businesses and locals in need? In addition, we provide preschool tuition support for the Bodega Bay school. The need for healthy, delicious food is real for so many! Donate, and yes we are a 501(c)3: https://wavesofcompassionfoundation.org/donate
