Sonoma County Animal Shelter OPEN for Adoptions

Sonoma County Animal Services’ reports no additional dogs have tested positive for the parvovirus. Today the Shelter will be open for all adoptive services.

Additional tests will continue over the next few weeks to ensure no other dogs were exposed to the parvovirus. The Shelter’s extensive cleaning and decontamination process will continue for the next week until regular operational cleaning will resume.

“Sonoma County Animal Services would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the public and our volunteers for your support, patience and understanding during this difficult and stressful time at the shelter,” Sonoma County Animal Services Director John Skeel said. “Our management team would also like to recognize and thank our staff and veterinarian at the Shelter for the highly professional and exceptional way in which they responded and managed this outbreak.”

The Shelter still recommends that any dog recently removed from the Shelter should be seen by their veterinarian for possible exposure to Parvo.
