City of Sebastopol redesigns website to be mobile-friendly

Mobile-friendly, Online Bill Pay and More Opportunity for Feedback Lead Site Changes

Residents of Sebastopol may now pay water and sewer bills online, find out how to apply for a business license from a smartphone, and get a preview of the agenda for the next City Council Meeting from a tablet.  The City of Sebastopol just launched a newly redesigned website,, bringing a cleaner, more modern look and enhanced features to Sebastopol residents and visitors.

The new website has been designed to provide a user-friendly experience with improved navigation and mobile responsivity for better viewing on iPad, tablets, and smartphones. In addition, residents can now pay their water and sewer bills online and contact city departments directly through the integration of a multiple channels that invite feedback and community engagement.

“When we took on this project, we conducted internal and external surveys and held a forum to gather community input on what residents would like to see on the city website. We also conducted a number of meetings with City staff to determine which website features would make their jobs more efficient and productive,” said Sebastopol Mayor Sarah Glade Gurney. “The new site is a direct result of these collaborations. We are proud of the result and look forward to better being able to meet Sebastopol residents’ needs more effectively. The site will continue to evolve and become even better as folks begin to use it and let us know how well their needs are being met.”

The launch is just the first part of the City’s initiative to automate and improve many of the services offered.  Future phases will incorporate the ability to fill out and submit forms, such as building permits and business licenses, as well as pay the fees associated with these applications online. Also, in response to community requests, residents will be able to subscribe to topics that are of interest and receive notifications when these topics are on upcoming agendas at City Council, Design Review Board, Planning Commission, or Public Art Committee meetings.

In addition to the website, the City of Sebastopol can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
