SOMO Village Concerts

By Bryce Dow-Williamson

You are invited to the third season of Sonoma County’s newest spot for music, SOMO Concerts. This growing venue in Rohnert Park at the old Agilent complex is now home to the largest solar array in Sonoma County, producing 3.1 megawatts through 16,000 panels. Every show at SOMO is committed to promoting community and fun in the North Bay through festival style shows in a safe environment that supports local creativity, collaboration and commerce.

The award winning development of SOMO Village is based on adaptive re-use with existing buildings in the 25-acre business core being reused with new purpose. The 175-acre development is guided by mixed-use zoning, a form based code and One Planet Living – creating a social, economic and environmentally strong and different community. One Planet Living® envisions a world in which it is easy, attractive and affordable for us all to enjoy happy, healthy lives within the natural limits of our planet.

Our 12 show season started with Wavy Gravy’s 80th birthday and continued with a dynamite dance party featuring young soul singer Allen Stone with San Francisco favorites, Monophonics. July welcomes the million dollar light show of “the World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Tribute Show”, Brit Floyd as well as the gorgeous rock n’ roll powerhouse Grace Potter and then reggae legends UB40 featuring founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey, with the greatest living exponents of Jamaica’s reggae tradition, the Wailers

August welcomes the return of The Sonoma Blues Festival featuring Sonny Landreth, Janiva Magness, Lightnin Malcolm and Howell Devine. Then Sonoma County favorite Michael Franti and Spearhead bring their SOULROCKER Tour with southwestern songstress, Zella Day, followed by rock torchbearers Gov’t Mule with southern rockers Blackberry Smoke.

September invites you back in time with Lost 80s Live featuring A Flock of Seagulls, Berlin, Wang Chung, The Cutting Crew, Tommy Tutone, Nu Shooz, Dramarama, and Annabella’s Bow Wow Wow. Then the popular Earle Fest finds a new home with us as we invite three time Grammy winner and 2 time Americana award winner Lucinda Williams, with support from eclectic award winning cow-punkers The Mavericks, San Diego roots-rockers The Paladins and Santa Rosa’s up and coming pop rockers Girls + Boys. We’re also debuting the very first California Consciousness Festival with everyone’s favorite celebration band, Kool and the Gang, reggae ambassadors Third World, Jamaican dancehall legend Half-Pint backed by L.A.’s dirty reggae stalwarts The Aggrolites, rising star Mike Love from Hawaii and Sebastopol’s own favorites, Sol Horizon.

Our season ends with a bang as Galactic, The Pimps of Joytime, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and the Dixie Giants for a beer and music festival focusing on the rising popularity of sour and hoppy beers within an immersive Oktoberfest ambiance and the sweet sounds of funky tunes.

We’ve created something special in Sonoma County, just for you. We want to bring you the kind of experience that you previously had to leave our little wine and redwood area for. Our Bay Area music business veterans and grassroots local young professionals endeavor to make Sonoma County a regional destination for great musical experiences.
