Monte Rio Musings - Chuck Ramsey - May 2016

Monte Rio Musings - Chuck Ramsey - May 2016

Busy season is ramping up and we are ready, so bring it on! Glad for the rains, but ready for the sun.

First up is the 5th District Candidate Forum at MR Community Center May 6, 6pm. Mark your calendars, meet the candidates, and let them know what our local concerns are. The forum will be moderated by Vesta. An active engaged community makes a difference and gets results! Want better air quality? Want your road repaved? Want our businesses to remain viable and open? Want to feel safe and comfortable walking our streets and parks? Want to be proud that you live in the best and most beautiful hamlet in the River and beyond? Attend the candidate forum, volunteer, and join a local organization!

Next up is a Bingo fundraiser for Sonoma County Pride Sun May 15, 3pm at Graton Resort and Casino

Win a raffle prize of a pair of Alaska Airlines tickets for any destination they serve worldwide. Sonoma County Pride will be bigger and better than ever this year. June 5th is the Parade and Celebration. There is still time to register for the parade, vendor booth, or sponsorship. Join us at

On Fri May 20 Monte Rio Chamber of Commerce holds their 16th annual Golf Tournament. Sign up a team on-line or at Northwood Restaurant. Become a T-sponsor. The Golf Tournament is a fundraiser that supports our Independence Day Weekend Fireworks. Monte Rio has always had great fireworks, and this year we will have the only fireworks in the River!

On Sat May 21 the Tour of California will be coming through Monte Rio. On Sun May 22 we will have the Monte Rio Triathlon (formerly Vineman). The Triathlon is looking for volunteers for set-up.

On Sun May 29 (Memorial Day Weekend) the Russian River Alliance will hold their 4th annual Russian River Memorial Weekend Festival to kick off the summer season 2-4pm at the Rio Theater grounds overlooking the river. This year Carl Green Music will perform. Food and beer will be available. Come down, support your community Alliance, as well as the Rio Take 2 Café and Rio Theater.
