Monte Rio Musings - Chuck Ramsey - March 2016

Monte Rio Musings - Chuck Ramsey - March 2016

Spring is almost here, although I think it arrived early this year. Feel like gardening? Contact Monte Rio Rec & Park to get a sunny plot in one of our community gardens. Monte Rio Rec & Park is also looking into adding programs this year. One possibility is swimming lessons. for more info.

Spring is the time to get our hamlet looking good for the summer. Russian River Alliance has been working with Sonoma County to improve response times for our residents. One promising new app is SoCo Report It. It is easy to use and is with you everywhere. If you see litter, graffiti, potholes, abandoned vehicles, etc. take out your phone, take a pic, and report it. It even has GPS capabilities to make reporting fast and easy. It also has tracking so you can check on the progress on your case. Later this year Code Enforcement will also be added to the app. Do you know the only place an inoperable or unregistered vehicle can be legally parked is in a garage? Not in a driveway, not in a front or back yard, not behind a fence, and not on the street. Let’s keep Monte Rio beautiful. for more info.

Monte Rio Chamber has been busy updating our website. We are trying to make it easier to communicate with you and keep you updated on our events and progress. The Chamber is responsible for the Vacation Wonderland sign. Recently it needed a new transformer and is shining brightly again. Village Inn is donating proceeds from Wednesday’s local’s night menu to help pay for the neon repair. The Chamber is getting ready for our Golf Tournament held May 22nd, which is a fundraiser for July 4th. We are currently looking for T sponsors. for more info.

Sonoma County Pride is gearing up as well. Pride Sunday parade and celebration will be June 5th this year. There are many ways you can help. Sign up for a parade contingent, a vendor space, or for a two- hour volunteer time slot. Attend our Give Back Tuesday on March 22nd. We are also currently seeking sponsors. Promote your business locally, and throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento. for more info.
