Cazadero Communications - March 2016

Cazadero Communications - March 2016

by Natasha Pehrson

The lovely redwoods outside of my cosy cyber-hut are bobbling gently in the breezy rain. After a very dry and warm start to February, we are currently receiving a generous downpour and do hope that this on/off pattern continues.

The regular monthly meetings of the Cazadero Community Club will resume on Tuesday, March 1st-7 p.m. at Firehouse #1. All are welcome to help your neighbors plan events which benefit the entire community. Susan Moll, Club Secretary, tells me that club members will be reading submitted applications by qualified local El Molino Seniors applying for the generous Scholarships given by the Club and Firefighter's Association.

The recent 'Poets in Winter' reading by local Mike Tuggle (Poet Laureate emeritus of Sonoma County) and current Poet Laureate Iris Jamahl Dunkle  of Sebastopol  at the Occidental Center for the Arts was very well attended. Both poets read from their newest volumes, keeping fans of the written and spoken word enthralled! Tuggle's newest book,' The Motioning In' will be available soon at Copperfield's in Sebastopol and Mockingbird Books in Guerneville.

Lots of learning and fun is scheduled for March 2016 at Montgomery Elementary School. On March 2nd 8th graders will have a visitation at El Molino High School and on March 3rd and 16th, there is Open Registration.  The 6th, 7th, & 8th graders will go on a field trip to The Exploritorium in SF on March 10th. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will also hit the road for a field trip, which is yet to be determined. And finally, the Transitional Kinders, Kinders, 1st, & 2nd graders will host a brunch on March 18th, the last school day before the beginning of Spring.
