The Lion King Jr. Live in Forestville!

The Lion King Jr. Live in Forestville!

It’s that time of year again. The weather is warming up. Flowers are starting to bloom. The crack of baseball bats echo in the air. And the doors open on another spectacular musical extravaganza at Forestville School and Academy. For the past 23 years, Noelle Huberty, first grade teacher and drama coordinator, has put in countless hours directing thousands of students in dramatic performances ranging from satirical murder mysteries to Broadway classics such as The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, and Shrek the Musical. This year Forestville is the first in Sonoma County to bring to stage the exciting and breathtaking, Disney’s The Lion King Jr. With the help of costume designer and prop master Judy Bellows, pianist Robert Hazelrigg, and set designer David Wright, Noelle is bringing the dazzling colors and sounds of the African safari to life. This promises to be one of the most amazing productions in the history of the school’s award winning drama program.

Of course, the show wouldn’t be possible without the students. And this year 95 kids from kindergarten through 8th grade have put in countless after school hours into learning lines, dance moves, and musical lyrics. They also had the opportunity to work with retired art teacher, Carol Swanson, to create their own animal masks. Parents too have spent their weekends hauling, hammering, painting, sewing, and doing anything else needed to put together an extraordinary event.  If you haven’t yet experienced one of Forestville’s drama programs, you don’t want to miss this year! They are a shining example of the hard work, dedication, and community involvement that makes our town so special.

Shows run March 11th, 12th, 18th and 19th at 7:00 pm and March 13th and 20th at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for students.

Come join the fun and bring your friends!
